His Blood Poured Out

On a recent business trip, upon boarding the plane, I found my seat next to a 20-something male. The young man was slouched in his seat, with his hoodie covering his eyes. I attempted to stir conversation, but with little success. I did notice a swelling on the side of his face that appeared to be the size of a baseball. The swelling was red and looked very painful.

As the trip progressed the flight attendant made her way to our aisle to take drink orders. The young man appeared to be sleeping, and I ordered a coke. The attendant returned shortly with my drink and placed it on my tray. Our eyes both fixed on the drink as she sat it on my tray. There was a mistake somewhere, because the drink was bright red, like tomato juice. The attendant looked at me and asked if I had ordered a coke. I replied yes, it was supposed to be a coke. She took the red drink away and brought back a cup of ice and a can of coke on her tray. I watched her open the coke can and pour out the drink. She again placed it on my tray, and the drink was again bright red. She was stunned, as was I. She blurted out, "I don’t understand this." The young man quickly sat up and said, "I know what that is, it is His blood poured out for me," and pointed to himself.

He continued to explain that his life was a mess and his mother had been nagging him to get back to the Lord. He said that very morning he woke up with the swollen and painful jaw and said; "Lord if you take this away, I will get my life right." He explained that he very clearly heard an audible voice say "Today you will see my blood is poured out for you." The attendant was startled and said she didn’t understand any of this, and left our area. The man then asked if I would pray for his jaw. I accepted the offer, and placed my hand on his face, and began to pray.

Nothing happened. I asked him if he felt anything. His reply was "No, but stick your finger in my mouth and try that." He held his jaw open to display an abscessed tooth oozing with puss and blood. I was repulsed by the sight and thought to myself, "no way can I do that." I was quickly reminded that I had just witnessed a coke turn to blood. So, I placed my finger on the tooth and said "Lord take the pain away in the name of Jesus." The results were instant, no blood, no puss, no swelling. The guy got a huge grin on his face! He pulled the hood over his head and returned to his sleep position.

The attendant returned for the trash, saw the cup of blood, and said; "I still don’t get it." The young man slept through the end of the flight and only said, "thanks" before departing.

A Place to Call His Own

A testimony of provision, undeniably God, began in the spring of 2000. The elders were gathered to pray one evening about a prophetic word given to the Body that declared the Church would soon be debt free. In the flesh this seemed an impossible task, since the mortgage held for the church building was more than stretching our young congregation.

The Church had previously met in homes, shared a building with another fellowship and finally, by faith, purchased an abandoned auto-body repair facility. The building was rough, unfinished and needed much transformation to actually accommodate people. The church body worked excitedly and tirelessly for several months to ready the building, but there were still limited funds for many necessities. God had already sent everything from cooling systems to light bulbs, but the prayers that the elders prayed that evening were answered above and beyond what we could have imagined. The following week, a contract was signed for the property to be purchased by a national home-goods company for one and a quarter million dollars! That was five times the existing mortgage note. Everyone was overwhelmed with excitement... but God wasn’t finished, yet.

The body met at a Christian high school for the next year hoping to eventually build even though property values were soaring. And then, an unexpected phone call was received by one of our leaders from a Christian man interested in our current situation. He asked if he could meet to discuss the plans of the church. The meeting occurred at the gentleman’s residence, a single house on forty acres of land in the middle of our growing community. To our amazement, he offered Bread of Life fifteen acres of prime land to build our new church home! The Lord was true to His word. Bread of Life Ministries is today debt free, with a wonderful ministry center for kingdom work on fifteen acres of peaceful land.

Our Father is faithful, and He is good!
